Ballet Wrap Skirt for Girls – Womens Dance Skirts with Adjustable Waist Tie

First — if you don’t want much overlap of the layers, the sizing runs a bit big. If you’d rather overlap them move (which does look nice), the tying strings are only at the end, making this a bit difficult. (The strings are long, so I solved it by sewing the bottom layer’s string back along the skirt’s waistline for a few inches; that let me tie it off ‘early’.) The material is great, diaphanous a soft. The look is beautiful when work over ballet tights, and it can be layered over other things as well (eg, a bathing suit).

This skirt is great for my daughter’s ballet class. She loves to wear skirts and wants to wear the wrap-around ones like the big kids. Often, the wrap-around ones fall off of her because they are made with only a ribbon tie. This skirt has an elastic ribbon so, once tied, it stays in place. It doesn’t shift around and it doesn’t fall off when she is dancing. The fabric is very pretty. It is soft and flowy and falls nicely without being too long or distracting.

I looked at over a dozen ballet skirts on Amazon because I really wanted something that ticked all the following boxes: sheer enough to be practical in class (I’ve had to return several black skirts because they were completely opaque), a stretchy waistband/ties instead of a ribbon tie, the perfect short length, not too flimsy, not staticky or adhering to tights, and not so big around the waist that the waist ties get wonky from overlapping so much. This skirt was SO close to being perfect, but the waist ties are just much shorter than all of the other skirts I own. I ordered the medium out of an abundance of caution but even though my waist size is smaller than the range on the size chart (25.6-33.4 inches for the M), the ties are still barely long enough to tie into a bow. This is really disappointing because I have to take extra care when tying the bow and I’m worried about it coming undone in class. I might end up ordering the L, but I doubt that would solve my issues because the actual waist and skirt size of this is perfect, it’s just that the length of the ties past the skirt are too short. The length is also perfect and I think the L would be too long since it seems to be about 1.5 inches longer based on the sizing chart. (I will update this review if I do end up purchasing it!)Overall, I’d recommend this skirt, but only if your waist size is smaller than what the size chart says. I’m 5’5 with a 24 inch waist and just barely had enough string to tie a bow so I don’t think the M will work for anyone with more than a 25-26 inch waist.
